DAR (Utility)
Introduction
dar is a shell command that backs up directory trees and files. It can be used for backups, as it fully supports differential backups. It is also faster than tar for file extraction and lookup, since it packs a file index into every archive -- therefore it can used as a faster alternative for tarring a large number of files.
