[13:30] SHARCNET Literacy: High Level Approach to Fortran Programming: Contrasting MATLAB and Fortran

This online presentation will highlight some of the important features added to the Fortran standard that makes array processing more powerful. With syntax as simple as Matlab, yet more efficient for large scale computing, Fortran has once again become a rival choice of language for scientific and high performance computing on modern supercomputers. We will have a quick review of the (new) language elements of Fortran, and compare some of the syntax and performance of Fortran and Matlab by examples.
