Speaker: Bryan Zocco, MATLAB
This free technical session will show you how to perform parallel computing in MATLAB using either your desktop machine or a compute cluster. You will learn how to utilize the full capabilities of your multicore machine through the new parallelism capabilities of MATLAB 7.6.0 (R2008a) and Parallel Computing Toolbox™ 3.3. We will also introduce the use of our parallel computing products on a compute cluster to speed up your algorithms and handle larger data sets.
Here is a more detailed breakdown of the sections:

- Speed up algorithms without code changes - Develop parallel code interactively Task parallel applications for faster processing Data parallel applications for handling large data sets - Schedule your programs to run - Tips and tricks for parallel programming in MATLAB
MATLAB runs a Webinars session for Sharcnet remotely. Users can also join the session from a Windows PC IE or Firefox browser. They use VoIP through the Webex platform (that VoIP will not work for the Mac platform). If that fails then they will send a conference call number out to the webex attendees through the chat feature in webex. To have a phone ready for conference call is recommended. Here is the link to Webex’s system requirements web page: Webex System Requiements (not work well for linux systems in our tests).
Presentation begins at 1:30pm EST You can log-on to test your Webex connection starting at 1:00pm EST
