Come and learn about data visualization in an intensive INTRODUCTORY symposium.

Data visualization allows invisible data to be made visible through the creation of meaningful images. At VizDay 2008 experts in data, information and scientific visualization will share examples of and insights into their work in order to introduce the benefits of visualization to academia and industry.

Speakers will provide case studies in the physical sciences, biology, medicine, geology and mining and the social sciences. Case studies include research, commercialization and art and design applications. The contributions of art, design and cognitive science to visualization will be discussed.

VizDay provides an opportunity for participants to discuss the tools, techniques and technologies of data, information and scientific visualization.

VizDay 2008 is produced through a collaboration between the Ontario College of Art & Design as part of its Digital Futures Initiative, and the SHARCNET Collaboration and Visualization Committee. Symposium supporters include ORION/ORANO, CANARIE, IBM and SHARCNET.
