Speaker: Isaac Ye, SHARCNET

This seminar will provide an overview of the bash shell (which most users have as their default shell on SHARCNET clusters), and the scripting facilities it provides. Shell scripts can be used in conjunction with common system utilities to automate a wide variety of tasks that would otherwise be time consuming or tedious to do manually. Practical examples will include simple arithmetic calculations, generation of a Makefile and automated pre-processing, submission and management of jobs.

It is highly recommended that you join the webinar a few minutes early to ensure you get your sound option sorted out before the meeting starts.
