Abstract	The interplay of spin glass physics and the Kondo effect is discussed for a model of dilute magnetic alloys. The physics is analyzed in terms of the distribution of internal magnetic fields. Using this approach, we determine the phase diagram of the model; we determine the properties of the model in the phases with broken ergodicity.
